The 2024 SoCal Beat Battle is open to all middle and high school singers, musicians, and producers that write their own music. More than just a contest, the SoCal Beat Battle is a vibrant community where aspiring creatives can connect, share their original music, and gain invaluable feedback from industry experts. With amazing prizes up for grabs, the excitement will culminate in an unforgettable in-person event in February 2025, where creativity shines, winners are announced, and the future of music meets today’s young talents.

⚔️ THE BATTLE ⚔️
This battle is open to all middle and high school students (5th-12th grade) in participating southern California school districts. Students will write and create original music using audio production software. All music must be 100% original. You may use any D.A.W. you like to create your music.
📜 CATEGORIES 📜
Producers: For the beat makers, hip hop heads, club kids, techno folks, etc. If your focus is software and music production, this is your place to shine.
Vocalists: For all the singers, rappers and vocalists, this is your time to shine. If your song has vocals on it, submit to this category.
Instruments: For all the musicians that play an instrument out there, this one’s for you. Must contain at least one track of a recorded instrument. (e.g. guitar, bass, violin, trumpet)

Soundtrap and Young Producers Group plan to recognize three outstanding music teachers at this year’s Beat Battle to receive an epic prize package. If you think your music teacher is one of the best, let us know in the submission form! The more details and information you share, the better!
🎉 CULMINATION 🎉
All participants will come together, hear each other’s projects, and the winners will be crowned. The judges panel will consist of music industry professionals and esteemed artists. Only students who submit music will be invited to this event.
The culmination event will be on February 7th at Spotify in Downtown LA!
💻🎹 PRIZES 🎤🎸
Pro-level music equipment and learning opportunities with music industry leaders. Last years prizes included MacBook Airs, studio monitors, AKAI keyboard workstations, Apogee Audio Interfaces, Fender guitars and basses, Pioneer headphones, studio bundles from Focusrite, and all attendees received Apogee Hype Mics and Artiphon Orbas!
👂RULES AND REGULATIONS👂
Song submissions must be original content written by the students who are submitting. Use of copyright material is not permitted. The authenticity of every submission will be checked. Any plagiarism will result in a ban from all future battles.
Song submissions must be at least one minute long.
Students may submit up to three separate songs to any category. Students cannot submit the same song to multiple categories.
Group collaborations are accepted, but prizes will only be given as one prize per submission. If a group collaboration wins, it will be up to the students to decide how they divide up their prize amongst themselves.
Song submissions must be school appropriate. No lyrical content about drugs and alcohol. No promoting violence or gang activity. No overtly sexual lyrics and absolutely no bullying (diss tracks).
