Online Curricula
Distance Learning
Young Producers Group offers a variety of distance learning options to keep students making music as schools navigate the COVID-19 pandemic. We offer curricula that cover Ableton Live, Soundtrap and BandLab, allowing teachers and students to make music using any device.
We also offer additional resources and professional development for teachers to facilitate classes of their own. Academic teachers can make use of music technology for literacy development and academic integration through podcasting.
Young Producers Group can help schools make distance learning something students enjoy through harnessing the joy of making music.
Ableton Live
Our online Ableton Live curriculum gives students everywhere a chance to learn how to make the music they love. Using one of the three models outlined below, schools have the flexibility of forming a traditional class or moving the learning outside of the classroom walls with different prices that can work with any budget. The online curriculum is the same project-based curriculum that we teach when we are physically in schools. It can be hosted on any learning management system a school or district prefers. See below for more details!
BandLab + Soundtrap
With schools closed for the foreseeable future, we want to make sure that learning is still happening and students are still making music from home. That’s why we created curricula for free software that can be used on any device (phone, tablet, laptop, desktop). The first of these learning tools focuses on BandLab. The curriculum provides a user friendly and comprehensive introduction to creating music on BandLab, broken down into integral components, including loops, instruments and arrangements. More curricula are on the way for other free tools!

Teach the Teacher Model
Full Access to All E-Learning Materials
YPG Instructor Support for On-Site Teachers
Our Teach the Teacher Model includes full access to all of the YPG eLearning materials noted above with direct support from an experienced YPG instructor, allowing an on-site teacher at a school, nonprofit, or other institution to bring music technology to their students.
Depending on the experience level of the on-site teacher, video chats with YPG can take place either every week, once every other week, or once a month. In these meetings, the on-site teacher can ask questions around specific concepts or techniques. These video chats also serve as valuable opportunities to discuss pedagogical strategies for that teacher and their specific class. With a YPG instructor as a guide, any teacher can bring the joy of making music to any group of students.

Interactive Model
Full Access to All E-Learning Materials
YPG Instructor Support for On-Site Teachers
Our Interactive Model provides full access to the YPG eLearning materials and direct support to K-12 students from the YPG team, making this our most comprehensive and involved E-Learning model.
While not physically in the room with students, the YPG instructors remotely engage with students as they move through the curriculum by answering questions, providing feedback, and giving grades.
The YPG instructor will be able to track students’ development by observing their performance on the assessments peppered throughout the curriculum. Halfway through a project, students will send in their progress to the instructor for review. This will give the instructor insight into how all of the students are putting their knowledge into practice. Students who are doing well will receive extra materials to bolster their growth. Students that need help will get the individual attention they need to stay on track.
At the end of the project, students will send in their finished projects for the YPG instructor to review in addition to posting their finished work for the class to discuss. Using whatever learning management system a school chooses, an online creative community will form under the YPG instructors’ guidance where students comment on and ask questions about each others’ work. The instructor will look at students’ finished projects, their growth over the course of a project, their contributions to the class community and use all of that information to provide grades.
